🎲 ACTIVITY: “Alphabet Story Block Adventure”

What You’ll Need:

How to Play:

  1. Place all letter blocks in the basket.

  2. Let your child randomly pull out 3 letters.

  3. Challenge them to create a mini story using words that begin with those letters.

    • Example: B, C, T → “The Bear found a cookie under a tree.”

  4. Write or draw the story together. Older children can even act it out!

🧠 This activity encourages vocabulary building, creative thinking, and narrative development — all while keeping things playful and fun.

🍓 SNACK TIME: “Reading Rainbow Fruit Wands”

Ingredients:

  • Strawberries

  • Blueberries

  • Pineapple chunks

  • Green grapes

  • Marshmallows (optional)

  • Skewers

Steps:

  1. Wash and prep fruit.

  2. Let your child build a “rainbow” by sliding fruit onto the skewer in color order.

  3. Top with a marshmallow “cloud” if desired.

Enjoy during story time!

🍡 Literacy Boost: Have your child “read” the fruit names aloud as they build their skewer, or sort them alphabetically!

📖 LIBRARY BONUS

This week is the perfect time to:

  • Visit your local library and check out a book featured on Reading Rainbow

  • Ask your child what story themes or characters they’re interested in and help them find a related book

  • Encourage your child to get their own library card (if age-appropriate)

📚 Pro Tip: Let your child take the lead — the more they choose what to read, the more invested they become in reading regularly.
